Hotel North Shiga

Honestly, I won’t use this hotel or agency again. I booked an overnight trip for Ryuo skin station Taking the North hotel Shiga, and ran into one problem after another. The hotel only allows check-in at 3PM, but offered early check-in for 1100 yen. They told us we’d need a locker for 500 yen per person, even though one 300yen locker was enough for our two bags and shoes. It felt like a way to make us pay in advance. The PDF hadn’t said we needed cash, but the receptionist said the two of us couldn’t get lift tickets without 1000 yen. We were told our options were a one-hour walk to the nearest ATM or a taxi, which could cost around 10K yen just to get 1000 yen in cash. It wasted time, though we eventually found cash somewhere else. The rental setup was the worst. They wouldn’t let us detach the boots from the board to try them together. The boots turned out to be too big, and when we came back to exchange them, they said we’d have to pay the hotel again. They also charged 500 yen per person per day for extra “insurance,” which seemed like a money grab when they could have taken a deposit instead. Returning the boards and boots meant cleaning them ourselves, so it felt like we were paying for no service. They kept us waiting outside in the snow and cold, spoke rudely, and gave no explanation beyond, “Look the rule is written there”.
