Shigakogen Olympic Hotel

The onsen was great, and the staff were awesome. Cleanliness was good enough, and the food was okay. The hotel feels dated, though shipping my skis with Yamato worked flawlessly.

There’s a little Mexican restaurant downstairs, past the shop, which is a nice find. Breakfast is filling, even if it isn’t fancy. The rooms are a bit small and dated, as is common in Japanese hotels, but the location is awesome. Reception staff were even better, going out of their way to help.

The snow here was unlike anything I’ve experienced, probably the best conditions I’ll ever see. The hotel’s in a wonderful, quiet spot and has great amenities, so I’d come back for another snowboarding trip in Japan. A special thank you to Iori, who was incredibly kind and helpful to my boyfriend and me on our first visit to Japan. We had lots of questions, and he went above and beyond to help us, both on and off the clock.

A basic stay, but a good value and very convenient. The friendly staff helped with information and services for getting to nearby attractions. The buffet package is well worth it, with good variety and quality at both breakfast and dinner. There’s a large basement onsen, a reasonably priced mini shop, ski rentals, vending machines on every floor, and a full service buffet restaurant. The hotel is close to the slopes and a few restaurants in the Ichinose area. The rooms are quite dated, but still fine for a restful night. They can also courier your luggage to your next destination for a reasonable price.
