It was quiet and felt homey, with the whole house to ourselves. I could cook my own meals and relax in nature. The mosquitoes and gnats got me on the legs, though, and the mosquito coils were no help, lol. The facilities needed checking. The hammock was missing a bolt and nut, so I couldn’t use it. One of the three gas burners didn’t work, and the light over the exhaust fan was out. Around 4 a.m. I couldn’t sleep because I heard what sounded like religious chanting. They said they’d inspect things after I checked out, but I haven’t heard anything since.

The building was clean and well maintained, with good amenities and clean baths and toilets. If we hadn’t struggled so much to find it, this would have been a five-star stay. We were a family of five visiting for the first time over New Year’s. Yahoo! Navigation was way off, and even on the way back the next day I got lost all the way to the Izu Skyline. They’d sent a photo map with the check-in instructions, but I thought finding it wouldn’t be that hard. Once we got close, I drove around aimlessly for about 20 minutes. We were lucky to arrive in the evening. At night I probably wouldn’t have found it. There weren’t any convenience stores or other shops around, and I wish there were even small signs at key turns.

The room was comfortable and easy to use, and the night sky was amazing, full of stars. I also had a really nice time chatting with the owner of a nearby restaurant.
