Izumiotsu Chapel Sweet

I’m writing this while I’m still staying here, because I’d like the staff member who helped me today to know how their response came across and make sure it doesn’t happen again. I’ve stayed several times before since the rooms are clean and the baths are spacious, but I don’t feel like coming back after this. I ordered steak, and both the hot plate and the round stone for cooking it were cold. At the front desk they said they’d reheat it, but there was no apology. When I picked it up, they took it without a word, then brought it back without saying anything either.

The rooms and bathrooms are clean, so I keep coming back, but the half-price special coupon hasn’t worked the last two times I tried it. Every time it’s half price, something seems to go wrong. Why?

I liked the interior, and the entrance sign mentioned a shisha bar, karaoke, and a gym, which made me curious enough to stay overnight. I booked a room with a projector because I wanted to watch a movie, but it didn’t work. The front desk couldn’t explain how to use it and asked me what they should do, so I gave up. I then tried the shisha bar listed at the entrance, only to be told on the phone that it was closed because of COVID-19. I understand, but they should put up a notice if it’s closed. Later, I went to my car to retrieve something and tried to pay the supposedly prepaid fee at the machine in my room. It showed 14,000 yen even though the listed price was 8,400 yen. I called, was told it was the weekend rate, and hung up. But the date I checked was Friday, and the website definitely listed 8,400 yen. When I called back, they said the listing was wrong and just made excuses without listening to me. I can only imagine what would’ve happened if I’d paid and left without questioning it. I’m never going back. I also couldn’t get through to the front desk despite calling several times in the middle of the night.

The receptionist is so unfriendly and rude that I won’t go back. Her way of speaking seems completely wrong for customer service. If she’s doing this as her job, shouldn’t she change her attitude? As others have said, it’s awful.
