Oakwood Apartments Minami Azabu

We moved from Spain to Japan and have been staying here for almost a month. Ben and Jane have helped us so much during that time. We feel very welcome and really appreciate their hospitality and service. Keep up the good work.

I had a wonderful week in the studio apartment and would be glad to stay at Oakwood Minami Azabujuban again. It was very clean and had everything I needed, including a TV, kitchen, AC, air purifier, washer and dryer, and Japanese-style bath. The instructions for the appliances were clear. Manager Bernard was friendly and helpful. The neighborhood is lovely and quiet, with the subway, convenience stores, and restaurants close by.

The room was far too small even for a small suitcase, and unnecessary furniture took up what little space there was. The bathtub took an incredibly long time to fill. There was no clear notice when booking that cleaning wasn’t provided, so during a stay longer than a day the trash piled up. The washing machine smelled awful, and clothes came out smelling bad. The air conditioning made our throats hurt. I was already disappointed after choosing this place based on its high score and the Oakwood name, but the invoice issue made the stay much worse. They refused to issue invoices for bookings made through this website, saying their Japanese system couldn’t handle payments they didn’t process themselves. They chose that supposedly incompatible setup. I stayed at more than 15 hotels over almost two months, mostly booked through booking, and this was the only one that refused an invoice. If they can’t issue invoices for these bookings, they shouldn’t accept reservations on a platform that clearly marks them as business travel. This was a disappointment for the Oakwood name, and after this stay I’m not sure I’d consider an Oakwood again.

I’ve been at Oakwood Minamiazabu for over a month, and it’s been a very nice stay. My room is the smallest type, but it’s comfortable and has what I need for a long stay, including a washing machine, cooking utensils, plenty of wardrobe space and hangers. The bed is super comfortable, and they gave me extra pillows when I asked. Restaurants, grocery stores, and conbinis are a short walk away, and train stations are around 15 minutes on foot. Michelle and Andika have been wonderful, friendly, and quick to respond. There were drinks and food in the fridge at check-in, plus free detergent powder. My only small drawback is traffic noise when I open the balcony door for fresh air. With the door closed, I can hardly hear it, so it’s minor. I’ll miss staying here when I check out soon.
