Right by the train station, with a really nice bath upstairs. The water was about 38-39°C. They also have free massage chairs, ice cream and soba noodles as a late-night snack.

The staff were consistently friendly, discreet and attentive, and the chic, soothing interior stood out. Breakfast was high quality, though very similar to the one at Dormy Inn Matsue, right down to identical desserts. The comfort and service made the higher price feel justified. There’s a generous lineup of complimentary extras: ice cream after a bath, probiotic drinks, late-night soba, iced coffee, vegetable and soda drinks, free laundry machines, and high-end massage chairs. The dryer costs ¥100 for 20 minutes. The mood can shift fast when families with kids arrive, ice cream in one hand and manga in the other.

2025 July update: The room still stinks, with both a machine smell and an air-con smell. Disgusting. They’re also being cheap, giving me just one set of pajamas for a four-night stay, so I’ve taken off one star. Still my favorite hotel for its onsen and location, only 30 steps from the JR station. ===== I always pick Dormy Inn in whichever city I’m in because the facilities are solid: onsen, free amenities, ice cream after the bath, coffee machine and free laundry washing, though drying costs extra. It’s also right by a main station and bus stop. This time, my room had a smoky smell, like dust from road construction, and there were noises like water or a machine running. The lobby staff didn’t seem very professional, though they were friendly. Even so, I was happy with my four-night stay.

The rooms are a good size, clean and comfortable, and the hotel is right outside the train station. Breakfast was great, with both Japanese and Western dishes. The onsen was great too, with indoor and outdoor pools and a sauna.
