Joetsu Sun Plaza Hotel

The food was delicious, though the restaurant has limited choices and service can slow down when the hotel is busy. We waited about 20 minutes after ordering when it was packed. The hotel also has free parking with room for lots of cars, plus ice makers, vending machines, and coin laundry. The rooms are tidy and the beds are comfortable, although the place is showing its age. Towels are thin and a bit scratchy but usable. Toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, and similar items are in the lobby, so remember to pick them up since they aren't in the rooms.

The rooms and beds were clean and tidy, and the stay was cheap and comfortable. The restaurant service was poor, though, with few meal options and only an average breakfast. The bath towel was small, not large and soft.

It worked out well for me during Hanami, when every other hotel was booked. There are lots of restaurants nearby, and the hotel was clean and comfortable. It's not the cheapest option, but it's reasonably placed for sightseeing around Takada. Buses stop close by, taxis to Takada cost very little, and you can rent bicycles from the hotel.

A good business hotel with really friendly staff and good service. The restaurant is a bit slow, and for what it costs, you're better off heading into town for a meal.
