Nomuraya Ryokan

We stayed one night with our children and didn’t take meals. The inn was quiet and relaxing, and it’s easy to reach, about 20 minutes from the Ibaraki Prefectural Museum of Natural History. I’d come back when visiting the museum. There are convenience stores nearby, including a 7-Eleven and a Family Mart, plus a bar in front of the station. Kasumi supermarket is also within walking distance, so going without meals is no problem. The rooms are Japanese-style, and you can sometimes hear people in neighboring rooms or the hallway. I like this kind of business-style inn because it’s comfortable and convenient. Each room has its own bathroom and toilet, and there’s a large family bath too. You need a sign to use the bath. Wi-Fi reaches throughout the building and the speed was decent, though video sometimes stuttered. It may work fine on the first floor, but could be slower at busy times. The free guest parking is east of the inn, behind the 7-Eleven. It’s gravel, and the road in may be quite narrow for a large van like a Hiace.

We booked this place for a year-end party, and pretty much everything about it was disappointing. There were lots of us, so they rented us the banquet hall, but the deal was only two hours of all-you-can-drink and one hors d'oeuvre per table. Some of our group didn’t drink, and there were children too, so 6,000 yen per person felt completely unacceptable. I’ve rented banquet halls at many places before, and honestly this was the worst.

We celebrated my parents’ 60th wedding anniversary here. Our plans changed, and we asked for catering just two days before the event, but they were happy to take it on. There was so much delicious food we couldn’t finish it. We were very pleased with both the meal and the service.

The wife is cheerful, while the husband is quiet. It was peaceful around there, and we could really relax. Breakfast was delicious, and the price was excellent for what we got.
