Gracias Guest House

We liked it so much that we extended our stay. The studio was clean, well equipped for cooking, showering, and laundry, and well maintained. There was a great balcony for eating outside or relaxing. The location was stellar, with a breathtaking view of Sakurajima(1107 M) volcano. A room with a view, for sure.

From the 6th floor, we had amazing views of Sakurajima-san. The owner was lovely, and we had fun conversations when leaving. The rooms were tidy and clean, with all the amenities you'd expect. The location also worked well for us, with a short walk to the aquarium, the ferry to Sakurajima-san, and Kagoshima's main shopping district and bus route.

The terrace and convenient location were the good parts. Cleanliness was only average: cockroach droppings on the dish rack's top shelf were really shocking. The air conditioner dripped water indoors in the middle of the night, and there was a peculiar smell from the elevator.

The room felt homey and had everything needed to cook. You can buy traditional food at the local market and prepare it yourself, which makes this a good pick if you want to try cooking Japanese food. From the window, you can see the volcano. If you're coming by train, take the light train for the transfer; it takes about 15 minutes from the station.
