Hotel & Residence Nanshukan

The restaurant was the best part for us. We ate breakfast there each morning, and it was just perfect. The owner was lovely, singing to welcome us and giving us gifts. When we were leaving in pouring rain and couldn't get a taxi, he drove us to the train station himself. We were so grateful! The hotel is right in the heart of Kagoshima and everything was very clean. Amazing place.

Dinner and breakfast were both delicious, and the nabe was the best I've ever had. Our room had plenty of space, with two beds and a sofa. At the front there was a free shochu tasting table, some table games and interesting Kagoshima souvenirs. We bought a few. The price was quite reasonable too. One of the nicest stays we had in Japan, and I have plenty of good things to say about this hotel.

The food really stood out. Breakfast was a big traditional Japanese spread with lots of different dishes, including black pork shabu-shabu, and the coffee was very good too. The hotpot dinner was an experience in itself, with sashimi, black pork and heaps of vegetables. You could tell they put care into making it an original Kagoshima meal. I'll remember it for sure. The family-run hotel was comfortable, and the staff were friendly.

The breakfast included Kumaso hot pot, a traditional Kagoshima dish, and it was excellent. The location in the city center is great for tourists. The crew were warm-hearted and the service was excellent.
