Hotel Taisei Annex

The bed was much too hard. The bathroom is showing its age, though still acceptable, and the room itself is in decent shape with standard amenities. The lobby is spacious and clean, and the staff are friendly and helpful. It’s walkable from the station, though not especially close. There’s a large public bath, but it’s for men only. They also offer free udon from 21:30 to 22:30, which is a thoughtful touch, though I didn’t try it, so I can’t comment on the taste. For a 2-star hotel, it turned out better than I expected.

There are a few restaurants nearby if you walk around and look, and the hotel is quiet, away from the busy area around the station. The room was reasonably clean and had a small fridge for keeping beer cold. The counter staff were polite and spoke a little English. Every night from 9.30 to 10.30pm, each guest gets a small bowl of udon for free. I’d stay again if I visit. It’s a little under a ten-minute walk from Kagoshima-chou station. For the simplest route, leave the station onto the main road with Amu Plaza behind you. I came out the other side and ended up taking a big loop before reaching the hotel.

The service was excellent, and the hotel gives guests free udon downstairs. It’s also under five minutes from Kagoshima-Chuo station, handy for early starts or when you’re tired. The room was a bit old and dirty, though. There was mold along the side of the tub, and running water brought dirt and grime up from the drain.

They serve free udon as a late-night snack, which was a nice extra. The hotel is just a two-minute walk from the station, with a department store about the same distance away. I had a comfortable and enjoyable two-night stay. The rooms were clean and in good order, and the facilities should cover what you need.
