Hotel Gasthof

The interior has the feel of a Victorian Age house, and the rooms are spacious with everything you need. Staff were welcoming and the prices were good. It's a very convenient spot, about a five-minute walk from Kagoshima-Chuo Station with a few city bus and tram stops nearby.

The customer service was superb, and I liked both the room design and the hotel's location. Some parts of the room were broken or too old to use, though. Breakfast was good, but it could get tiring if you stayed more than three days. The parking lot is beside the building and tight to maneuver in, but staff are there to guide you. I enjoyed my stay and would call it a good hotel.

The rooms are stylish despite the antique look, and I especially liked all the pillows and throw pillows. The washroom was clean. After breakfast, an update will be coming. The decor is antique, and the staff were incredibly friendly. They offer bottled water for free, which feels rare these days, along with coffee, tea and water machines. The WiFi didn't reach well enough in my room, but the front desk gave me a wireless router. Great location. It cost 7,000¥, with breakfast another 1,600¥. Thank you!

Room 208 was very pretty, and that was the only thing I appreciated. The bed wasn't comfortable, and the room smelled strange and stung my nose. The front desk staff had no smiles and couldn't speak English. If they can't speak English, they shouldn't have accepted foreign visitors. They offered no help when they saw elderly guests struggling to carry heavy 26” luggage upstairs, despite there being no lift. Once they'd been paid at check-in, it was goodbye. Worst of all, the smoking room door beside the front desk was left open the whole time, so we all ended up as second-hand smokers. The smokers' sting was still hanging around the reception area. It was so disappointing and upsetting.
