OYO Hotel Kukita Kagoshima Taniyama

This is my second stay. It's an older building, but it's been renovated and is very clean. The best part is having the toilet and bathroom in separate rooms. All the amenities are there, though I wish there were more. That's what I mean.

For a work trip, this is a great place to stay, and getting around on foot is easy even if you're carpooling and don't have a car. There's a large park right in front, and enough nearby to keep you from getting bored. I'm often in different business hotels for work, and this one gives the best value for money. A room-only stay costs 4,000 yen as of October 2024. I'm not sure how bad the morning traffic gets.

It seems to have started as a company dormitory, and the rooms are spacious. In the rooms I stayed in, the toilet, bath, and sink were separate, though room layouts may vary. There are two microwaves on the first floor and one by the elevator on each floor. The first floor also has two washing machines and two dryers, with free detergent, which is a big plus. This suits medium or long business stays better than short tourist visits. There's free parking for 10 cars in front, but if you arrive late, you'll need a nearby coin-operated lot. The Sasanuki tram stop is close, and there are lots of shops around, so the location is excellent.

It's a shame, because the location is good, but the walls in my room seem to have no insulation. I could hear almost everything next door. My neighbors were considerate and not very loud, but if someone were drunk or talking loudly late at night, I'd be bothered and unable to sleep. The staff can't really fix this, so I'll either have to put up with it or choose somewhere else next time.
