Dinner was a Japanese-style set course and felt like good value. Our fifth-floor room was kept in pretty good shape, and the stay was comfortable. The older shared spaces could use work, though: some wallpaper was peeling, and the hair dryers were very old.

The river view was lovely, and the hotel is known for hosting Shogi (Japanese chess). It’s a decent place with plenty of room. The public bath felt a little small, and getting to the public attractions takes a bit of effort.

The food was good and the service was the best. The traditional Japanese rooms are spacious and luxurious, with some Western touches too. A really nice place.

We had both breakfast and dinner at the restaurant, and the homemade Japanese dishes were excellent, with plenty to choose from. A waiter was there to help during the meal, too. The inn sits by the Naka River in Kurobane Town and is quite large. Inside, it’s a little dated but clean, and the twin rooms have good space. The corridors felt a bit cold. For the price, it’s a lovely hidden gem.
