Toyoko Inn Kagoshima Chuo Station Higashi

A quick five-minute walk from the station, and they serve a decent breakfast. The room felt compact for two people, so we had to work out where to put our luggage. Still, it was a great stay and I’d recommend it to budget travelers.

The rooms smelling of cigarette smoke was annoying, though I got used to it. The main advantages are being close to the station and having breakfast included. Google Maps didn’t guide me smoothly, so if you arrive by train, take the sky path/bridge across until you reach the hotel’s side. I thought it was good value for money.

The breakfast was good, and overall the hotel was okay for the price. It’s a little old, but not too run down. There are several Toyoko Inn hotels around the station, and Google Maps actually sent me to the wrong one. The bed was very hard, so I found it difficult to sleep well. Also, in the morning the shower kept switching between hot and cold every two to three seconds, which made showering uncomfortable. I might still return at this price, or choose the newer one.

The airport line bus stop is right near the hotel, and the receptionists were very friendly. The WiFi connected well too. From a room above the 10th floor, the window looked out onto a colorful ferris wheel.
