Great location and staff, and the room was comfortable. The thin walls meant we could easily hear conversations, but I understand that's part of staying in an old Japanese house. I highly recommend it :)

The price is the biggest problem here. It's far too expensive. The location is good, but being right next to the train station means you'll hear trains going by. The room sizes are misrepresented: four of us were given a room that could barely fit three, and we had to stack one futon on another to make them all fit. The air conditioner is noisy, the closet doors stick, and the code locks will lock you out for an hour if you enter the wrong code three times. There's no trash can in the room either. The futons were paper thin, much worse than others we've slept on with tatami. For all six rooms, there's one bath and two bathrooms. The sinks in the bath area also serve as kitchen sinks, so someone may be brushing their teeth beside a guest washing dishes, with a shower on one side and someone using the bathroom on the other. The tea area is tiny. Don't count on the lockers or luggage area mentioned in the instructions. They literally say to leave your bags “somewhere around the place,” and a paper says they're not responsible if anything goes missing. There was no staff supervision and the main door was open when we arrived in the morning, so it didn't feel secure. The WiFi comes and goes, though that's common in many places. Kamakura accommodation is expensive in general, but I shouldn't have to pay hotel prices to sleep in a run-down hostel. I've stayed in run-down places on a tight budget before. This was simply overpriced as hell. Maybe look for somewhere nicer.

The shared setup and thin walls mean this isn't the place if you need privacy, but we had a lovely night here. They even decorated the room and left us a nice gift for our honeymoon. For the price, it was an excellent choice, with very comfortable beds, a great shower and an ideal location for enjoying Kamakura.

The room design and atmosphere were lovely, with a view over the little garden out front. It's very close to the train station, which made the location great. The beds were a bit small, but big enough for the two of us to share.
