Business Hotel Sun Royal

The breakfast was satisfying, and the staff were really kind. The room itself was old. It’s about a 15-minute walk from Kameoka Station, with an old townscape to enjoy along the way.

I was touring by motorcycle when I stayed here. I arrived in the rain, and the staff were very welcoming. They helped me get my bike under cover beside the entrance, though I forgot to take a photo. My smoking twin room came without meals, and the place has a retro feel. It was a bit cramped, but three Wi-Fi options and the built-in tables, which worked as a dining space, made it fine for one night. Nearby restaurants and supermarkets made it great value. The main downside is the busy National Route 9 right alongside, with traffic all day.

Guests get a complimentary food and drink service, plus a breakfast set. I’m glad they provide both.

For the low price, I think it’s a good hotel. The shower pressure is strong and comfortable, and the toilet has a bidet. Late checkout is available for an extra charge, which is great. There’s a wholesale supermarket next door, so a microwave in the room would be handy. There’s no microwave or electric kettle in each room, and I wish they’d provide them. An air purifier would be nice too, if possible. The air conditioner is dirty and needs professional cleaning. Its upper and lower louvers are broken, so I can’t change the airflow direction, which is inconvenient. It doesn’t work very well, though cleaning it would probably help.
