Sun Royal Hotel Kameoka Ekimae

It’s very quiet out in the countryside, though the hotel is a little out of the way, about a 20-minute train ride from Kyoto Station, and there isn’t much nearby. I really liked the hotel itself. It’s quite new, and the rooms are very clean with the modern amenities you need. I was on the sixth floor. There are two elevators, which got a little busy sometimes. The rooms have a USB plug and complimentary coffee and tea. Breakfast was very good, but they limit how many people can enter the room at once. It starts at 6:45, and by 7:00 there’s almost certainly a line. I didn’t like seeing empty seats while people were kept waiting. There’s a public bath for an extra charge. Someone in our group tried it and said it was great, updated, and had an outdoor rotenburo. There’s barely a lobby, just a small waiting area. The location could put some people off.

Easy to get to, clean and safe, and close to the train station and places to eat. Guest parking costs 500 yen per night. There’s even an ice maker in the lobby!

The hotel is affordable and just a one-minute walk from Kameoka station. Downtown is about 30 minutes away by train, and hotels in central Kyoto cost much more. Hozugawa River Boat Counter Ticket is a six-minute walk away. Breakfast was included, with a good variety of Japanese and Western options.

A convenient, modern and clean hotel, just a block from the football stadium. Starbucks is a block away too.
