Furano Hops Hotel

The staff were the part that really stayed with me. I got my car stuck in deep snow near the university through my own carelessness, and when I asked at the front desk, they drove out in their own car to help rescue me. I’m very grateful and will definitely return. The hotel has an old-fashioned feel, but the service is outstanding and the food is delicious. Breakfast changes each day: it’s a Japanese set meal, with a plentiful buffet selection alongside it.

We chose this place because other hotels in Furano were quite a bit more expensive. It’s an older hotel in a quiet neighborhood, but it has what you need. The room was large, with a sofa and table, and there’s a shared microwave on the floor. The toilet and bathroom are separate and spacious.

It’s convenient for downtown dinner options and sits centrally for both the ski area and backcountry. But my Western-style room had worn carpet and a tired chair, and it smelled like smoke. The windows were locked, and I couldn’t adjust the heat in the room.

The beds were comfortable enough for a good night’s sleep, and the rooms are spacious, with a sitting area and roomy toilet and bathroom. Breakfast is included, with freshly cooked traditional Japanese dishes and hot soup for each person. The main table also has sausages, buns, yogurt, fruit juice, milk, and more. It’s an older, dated hotel on higher ground above Furano, so there’s a nice view over the town. Still, everything is clean and well maintained.
