Kamogawa Grand Hotel

The staff were nice, and I really liked the meals, especially the buffet for the children 😆. The building is old, but the room was pretty good. I stayed in the baby-friendly room, and everything in it matched the photos and description. I’d definitely recommend this hotel, especially if you’re staying with children.

The onsen was amazing, indoors and outdoors, with three outdoor pools and great open-air views. Both public and private baths are available, though the private ones need to be reserved. Getting to the beach is quick and easy, but construction is happening on the left side. The ocean-facing room had a great 180-degree view. Sunrise was a little to the left, but still lovely. The room was spacious, though a bit old, with some loose plugs and fairly loud ocean noise.

The kids enjoyed the hotel and pool, but breakfast was a letdown. There was very little Western food, and the scrambled eggs were much too watery.

The onsen area was good, with both indoor and outdoor facilities, and the private baths didn’t need to be booked. There’s also a small game center and a fantastic kids’ room with lots of Japanese games. The station is a 15-minute walk away, while a drugstore, supermarket, and conbini are about seven minutes on foot. The location is amazing and the facilities are good, but the place feels a bit outdated and small after the extension, since the shared areas are still the same. Meals are squeezed into a very tight time window, with queues for tables, food, and drinks. That added unnecessary stress to the holiday. People also claim pool beds early by leaving towels and then going to breakfast or waiting for the pool to open at 9, so there’s basically no shade or seats if you don’t do the same.
