The location is the best thing about this place, and the staff are super friendly. We liked how the room was set up, but there were a few things that bothered us. The entry and bathroom lights come on automatically, so going to the toilet in the middle of the night or while jet-lagged means bright lights that could wake the person you’re with. The tub and shower are in the room, too, so there isn’t much privacy when sharing with friends, even with the large shower curtain. Bring earplugs if you’re sensitive to noise. We were on the top floor, but the pedestrian crossing beeps on the main road drove us crazy, and crows roosting in the nearby buildings squawked all night. Breakfast was disappointing compared with other hotels we’ve stayed at, especially for vegetarians. Still, the location alone makes me recommend staying here.

The location is perfect for a short Kanazawa trip. This boutique hotel has a fantastic design, with every detail thought through, and made for an unforgettable stay.

Korinkyo is quirky, with a distinctive concrete design that’s finished to a moderate level of detail. Our family of five stayed across two rooms. The hotel is well placed near the museums, and the staff were kind and accommodating. They made reservations for us by phone and wrote notes by hand to help communicate. They also easily handled our requests for early check-in and transport to the airport. There were lots of nice treats and teas in the room, but no coffee maker. You can go down to the second-floor lounge, where the team will cheerfully make coffee for you.

After a rough travel day with cancelled trains and a delayed bus, we arrived around 1 pm. My 18-year-old son realized he’d left his iPad in our car service, and the hotel attendant immediately called and arranged to get it back. We were shown to the lounge for a welcome drink and could check into our rooms straight away. The lobby scents made by the hotel, along with the gorgeous architecture and design, made us feel surrounded by comfort and luxury. We enjoyed the Taiwanese breakfast, which was artfully prepared and delicious, and also booked the rooftop sauna and tubs. We loved the amenities, and the coffee too.
