Midnight Rockers - Hostel

The hostel is new, clean, and comfortable, and the owner was really nice and helpful. It’s right by restaurants and bars, which made the location great. I’d recommend spending a few nights here in Kanazawa.

The staff were friendly, and the whole place was clean. There’s a shared kitchen, plus an activity room with a percussion set, and Wi-Fi throughout the building. It’s close to both the samurai and shopping districts, with a 7-eleven just a minute away. Kenroku-en garden and the 21st century museum are about a 10-15 minute walk.

The staff explain the facilities in detail, which made things easy for a first-time hostel guest, and the owner was friendly and happy to share tips about nearby shops. The lockers take coins, so you don’t need a padlock. There are four bunks in a row, and you can pick your spot. Showers are private, clean, and have hair dryers, though being unisex might feel awkward for women. The lobby lounge was a little crowded. In the morning there was nobody around, so I wasn’t sure how to check out. I just left my sheets in a basket and went home. There seemed to be quite a few Japanese guests, though I didn’t expect to interact with them much anyway. Watch what you leave on the bunk, since things can fall through the gaps. Aside from that, I had no complaints.
