We had dinner one night at the inn's sushi restaurant, and both the regular and vegetarian dishes were delicious. The host was kind, attentive and friendly throughout our six-night stay, even though we knew very little Japanese and he spoke only a little English. The inn is on a small, fairly quiet street, around a 5-10 minute walk from Kanazawa Castle and Kenrokuen Garden, with buses easy to reach. We could hear music and conversation from the restaurant, which might bother someone very sensitive to noise, but it wasn't an issue for us. I'd recommend this cosy, distinctive place to anyone who likes good sushi and wants a unique stay in Kanazawa.

The restaurant downstairs was a highlight for me. I ordered agedashi tofu and an Atlantic roll, and both were very well done. The staff were friendly and quick to respond. The rooms are simple and in a traditional Japanese inn. Its location and value are hard to beat, with cafes, popular sights and bus routes, including the Kanazawa Loop bus, just a few minutes away on foot. You may hear the restaurant from your room. That didn't bother me, but if you're sensitive to noise, bring earplugs. Thanks for a lovely stay!

We hadn't realized Golden week weekend would be so popular with locals and tourists, and the hotels were filling up fast. We booked this place straight away because it was at least within our budget. I'm glad we did, and would absolutely stay again. The location is incredible for an affordable hotel, a short walk from the castle and famous gardens. There's a little garden area with a tea retreat, and a scenic walk through the gardens leads to lots of nightlife and places to eat. Staff were courteous, check-in was quick and easy, and checkout even easier. We had a cute twin-bed Japanese-style room with a lovely window view. The beds were just fine, nothing special, and everything was clean. The toilet and shower are shared, but there aren't many rooms, so I didn't run into any wait or crowding. A very fancy 24-hour coin laundry is about a 5-6 minute walk away, with even a sneaker washer and dryer. A couple of things to keep in mind: the inn is above a sushi restaurant that stays open late, and it's an old, traditionally built building where sound carries. I sleep fine, but very light sleepers who go to bed early and can't use earplugs may want another option. The stairs are narrow. I didn't mind, though they might bother some people. I travel light, but with three large suitcases for two people, the Japanese tatami room might not be the best fit.

Such a peaceful, tranquil stay in a beautiful inn. The host was very kind, too.

We loved dinner at At Sushi. The staff and setting were lovely, and our table for two looked out over a small Japanese garden. Everything tasted fresh and full of flavor. They were very flexible and accommodating for us as vegetarians. The double cheese sushi was unlike anything we'd tried and the best sushi we've ever had. The wine was good, too. I'd especially recommend the restaurant to vegetarians who still want to enjoy sushi in Japan.
