The welcome felt sincere, and the stay had a lovely mix of comfort and tradition. We arrived early, so they took our luggage, then were ready for us when we returned later. The onsen was great, and breakfast was a lovely Japanese meal.

The staff were kind and helped with everything we needed, and the location puts you close to many of Kanazawa's best sights. Our room felt cozy, with a nice blend of modern and traditional touches. Having a full bathroom was an extra treat alongside the wonderful onsen. We only ate breakfast there, and it was delicious and carefully prepared.

We liked the traditional tatami room so much that we added another night. It was spacious and lovely, and breakfast was great. The location right by Omicho Market was another plus.

Every part of Sumiyoshiya has been wonderful for us, from the food and rooms to the amenities and location. Mie-san, her family, and the team are unbelievably friendly, helpful, and caring. We enjoy every visit to this traditional ryokan. We'd rate it 12 out of 10 ^_^

I really didn't want to leave, and I hope I can return someday. The service was amazing, and the spacious, quiet, comfortable rooms made for a peaceful, authentic stay. Sumiyoshiya deserves all five stars and then some.
