Unizo Inn Kanazawa Hyakumangokudori

The hotel was very clean, and the staff were amazing, helpful, and courteous. It’s in a good area, within walking distance of some of Kanazawa’s attractions. The only problem was the heat in our room. We couldn’t adjust it or open a window, so it got really hot.

I liked the little storage shelves built into the bedhead and other parts of the room. The hotel felt brand new and was very clean, with a nice lobby and entrance. Staff could speak English, too. It’s handy for the fish market and Kanazawa Castle Park, and the city centre is a short walk away. There’s a rental bicycle station around the corner. I’d stay here again.

Our twin room had a kettle and mugs, Japanese TV channels, good air conditioning, and plenty of complimentary bits like toothbrushes and razors. The bathroom was compact, but about what you'd expect in Japan. The hotel is clean and modern, in a good location, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Korinbo’s main shopping and restaurant area is about a 10-15 minute walk away. 👍

I haven’t stayed at UNIZO INN, but after this experience I can’t recommend it. Nearly three weeks before my planned stay, I asked them to waive the cancellation fee because a close family member had suddenly died back home, and I had to leave Japan unexpectedly. The trip to Kanazawa became impossible for me, both logistically and financially. I explained the situation to three other hotels and they all waived their fees. UNIZO INN refused. I can’t believe the staff member reviewing my request showed so little sympathy during such a difficult time. The dates were at the end of March during cherry blossom season, so they’ll likely have no trouble booking the room again and could make a double profit. I’ve lived in Japan for months, and this was my most disappointing experience so far. It didn’t reflect the high level of customer service I’ve come to expect here.
