There were plenty of good facilities, including basic cooking utensils, a roomy bathroom and a hammock. My music-loving friend and I brought guitars and cajons, then had an acoustic jam with what looked like handmade speakers and a tuned grand piano. We enjoyed it a lot. The hotel is far from the city, deep in the mountains, so we could enjoy the quiet natural surroundings from the balcony. Access is difficult enough that a car is essential, and there are no shops nearby. Still, everything else was wonderful. We had a very good time, and I’d use it again if I get the chance.

The terrace has a spectacular view over Suruga Bay and the city. It’s very quiet even in the daytime, and the peaceful wooden lodge makes time seem to pass slowly. Inside, the rooms were well maintained, with luxurious interiors and the latest appliances. The mostly wood construction, high ceilings and relaxed layout are exciting in their own way, and work beautifully for music. We recorded there and got a sound much better than in a typical music studio, almost like a small concert hall. I stayed with three friends for an ensemble camp. One thing to keep in mind is the narrow road with all its forks. You could get lost or need to give way to oncoming traffic, so go with an experienced driver and leave plenty of time.

The room was clean, and I slept well on the soft, luxurious France Bed futons. There was plenty of kitchenware too, so I enjoyed making my own meals during my teleworking stay. The bath was spacious and comfortable, even though there are nice hot springs nearby. Mount Fuji must be especially beautiful in winter, and cherry blossom season looks lovely as well. I hope to return with my family.

We chose this log cabin because it’s a place where you can make music. Having a grand piano there made for a wonderful holiday with friends. There’s a hot plate and cooking gear too, so you can prepare your own food. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to play music in the mountain air and enjoy the sounds of nature you only get in a remote place.
