Dormy Club Karuizawa

The staff were very friendly and helpful, meeting guests and carrying luggage. On checkout, they offered to take a nice photo and waved goodbye until our car was out of sight. Very good service. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and gave us plenty of privacy. The hot bath is small, but still okay.

The staff at Dormy Club really looked after us during our three-night stay. They came out in the rain to help with our bags both when we arrived and left, and even alerted us that our car lights were on. Hotel staff have never offered to take a commemorative photo for us before. On our last day, my husband casually asked about the weather in Tokyo, and a young front desk staff member looked it up and ran out to the car park with the details before we drove away. Their English is functional, so communicating was easy. We drove, and Dormy Club's setting by the forest suited us. The hotel feels modern and quietly luxurious, with an auto-flushing toilet. It's the first hotel we've stayed at that provided kids' shampoo and soap in both the hot spring washing area and the room bath. If you skip the onsen, the large bathroom has strong water pressure and a view. I didn't enjoy the hot spring as much. It wasn't hot enough for me, and the chlorine smell seemed a bit strong. The bathroom with the outdoor view more than made up for that.

The building, room, and onsen are small and a bit dated, but they make for a cozy stay with authentic Japanese hospitality. The service really warms your heart.

The hotel was very clean, and everyone was welcoming. We missed the shuttle by two minutes, but the person at reception kindly offered to drive us to the train station. He also took a farewell photo for us. We'd stay again. Great hospitality.
