Family Lodge Hatagoya Karuizawa

The two managers are very kind, and the flowers and surrounding landscaping are beautifully maintained. Compared with the old, dark, dirty Karuizawa branch, this is like night and day. Price changes can't be helped, so if they bother you, you can choose another hotel.

On our first family trip here, the owner kindly explained everything to us. The bread and coffee at breakfast were delicious. The beds were spacious, and even with the kids we had no inconvenience. Cleanliness was about what you'd expect for the price, but sufficient for an overnight stay.

The prices are reasonable, and I think they're doing a good job at the moment. With prices going up everywhere, though, any further increase would make me hesitate to visit.

We stayed here on March 29-30, 2024, the night before skiing in Nagano Prefecture. It was room only and great value for money. Face and bath towels are provided, along with shampoo, conditioner, and body soap in the bath. Toothbrushes and toothpaste aren't included, but you can bring your own or buy them at the front desk for an extra fee. There's free outdoor parking right in front. The free snacks are bread, coffee, and orange juice, though the juice type varies by location. If you don't need hotel or ryokan services and want to keep costs down for an overnight stay, this seems like a great fit. The photos show the rooms, baths, and toilets.
