Lovely scenery, and though it’s an old hotel, it’s very well maintained. The staff are well trained.

We came on 12/27 for our wedding anniversary, and it was my first time in Karuizawa. The trip was better than I expected. The hotel felt classy, clean, and beautiful both inside and out, and the staff were friendly and hospitable. Even with the heater off, the room stayed warm. We’re hoping to come back soon.

The hotel cost about half as much as one nearer central Kuruizawa. The staff were very helpful, though their English was limited. Dinner was surprisingly good: they made the Caesar Salad tableside, then put on quite a show with flaming Cherries Jubilee. It took me straight back to 1960s America!

The goose-down pillow and blanket were really comfortable. I spent the whole day biking around, and the hotel is close to the pond.
