Karuizawa Forest Seasons

We’d stayed at Fufu in Karuizawa before and were very satisfied, but this stay was on another level. The atmosphere felt especially comfortable for international guests. It was more relaxed than the very formal, time-consuming style of traditional Japanese service. Cleanliness was exceptional, on the level of a luxury hotel rather than a private lodge. There’s a professional cleaning team, and every day when we came back, the outdoor fire pit had already been set up. That was incredibly thoughtful. The food was another highlight: flexible menus, excellent flavors, and noticeably high-quality ingredients, even in the small details. Meals felt sincere rather than purely commercial, and never repetitive. Service combined Japanese attention to detail with international flexibility. Communication was easy, requests were handled smoothly, and the stay felt effortless and relaxing. We spent two days there and never ate outside the property. Long meals by the fireplace and a garden BBQ at the fire pit made the experience unforgettable. They prepared everything, from firewood to cleanup, so we could just relax. Highly recommended for a visit to Karuizawa or Japan in general. It’s a rare blend of a high-end hotel and a private lodge.
