The rooms are spacious and the staff extremely friendly. The building looks a bit like a renovated dormitory, but it has what you need for a cozy stay. Some negative reviews focus on the lack of a lift and having to carry luggage. Most of the staff are retired seniors, so I don’t think asking them to carry it is reasonable. Breakfast is optional and needs to be reserved ahead of time; guests aren’t required to have it.

The rooms are much more spacious than the ones I’ve had in Tokyo. The hotel is tucked away from the main streets, and for me, the 15-20 minute walk from the JR station was quite reasonable in autumn. I enjoyed it in the cool weather.

We were glad we’d booked for just one night. The room was tiny, with a low ceiling and pipes around it, and the bath and toilet were cramped too. The sink was so small and low that I had to bend almost 90 degrees to wash my face, and there was nowhere to put toiletries. The front desk service was poor as well; the person hung up before I’d finished talking. It’s in the middle of nowhere, about 15 minutes on foot from both the shopping street and the train station. It wasn’t a pleasant stay.

We could hear the next-door guests loud and clear. They were Chinese tourists, so maybe they were just loud.

The hotel is in a fairly quaint spot, and our stay was cozy and fuss-free. The staff were courteous and helpful, and spoke good English.
