Piccolo Hotel Opera Karuizawa

The friendly owners and sweet, relaxing feel of this place made me feel far from the city, which is true physically too. I’d definitely come back! A note for anyone with a SIM card: you need to buy Skype call credit so you can call the owner for pickup service from Shinano-Oiwake.

The warm service made me feel so welcome, and the homey atmosphere was lovely. The furniture, tableware and cutlery are all outstanding. I recommend staying here if you want to be received cordially.

My family of adults and I had a wonderful first stay here, and I’m very grateful to the owner, his family and the staff. I found this pension while looking online for a replacement after the one I used to stay at seemed to have closed. A review caught my interest, so I booked. The experienced owner had so many stories I’d have liked to share, and his wife’s home cooking made me envy the lovely life they’ve had. It was a heartwarming experience. With so many large, luxurious hotels built in Karuizawa lately, I’ve come to appreciate the pension’s warm, homely atmosphere, unchanged from times past. Having an open-air bath at a pension is a real draw too. I’d like to keep coming here for a long time, so I wanted to leave a review. I look forward to staying again. 😊

My friend and I stayed together, and the owners served our meals themselves. Their kindness and friendly service in every way made us incredibly happy. The open-air bath isn’t a hot spring, but it was very pleasant. Breakfast’s freshly baked bread was the best I’ve ever eaten.
