Yumoto Komachikan

The inn sits just one street back from the main road, in a pleasant area with a nice feel to it. I spent two nights without meals and found it peaceful and easy to relax in. The room was clean and had no smell. There’s no elevator, and the bath is on the first floor.

The room turned out bigger and more comfortable than I expected, and there was coffee in the annex lobby. I enjoyed having it at my own pace in the lounge, with its high tables and chairs that looked like Bodrum chairs. The food was tasty, though the servings were a little small. For the price, I thought they did a decent job. The hot spring was small, but nice and hot. With a low rating like this, I still thought the inn had some good points. The stay went downhill after the bath. I shifted the table in the corner of the tatami room and a huge huntsman spider came out. There’s no staff permanently in the main building. I tried calling the front desk over and over, but nobody answered, so I had to deal with it myself. I came all the way to Yugawara for a stay, and ended up wasting time fighting a spider. When I mentioned it the next day, the front desk response was poor. They said bugs come with the countryside, which I already know. But then they should at least answer the phone and help, or leave insecticide by the front door. Just leaving guests to handle it is unacceptable. I hadn't planned to post the photo because I thought it might bother other people, but I was so annoyed that I’m posting it. If that hadn't happened, I would have given the inn a high rating.

The food was excellent, and breakfast was great too! 🍺🍶🍷🥰 I booked that same day and was traveling alone. I don't need a luxurious room, though I think the main building would suit a family trip better.

The hot spring water was excellent, and the staff who helped us were kind and attentive. Our room was spacious, too. It was a really lovely stay, and I'd pick this inn again if I get the chance.
