Hotel Gen Kikukawa

Room 211 was clean for the price, and the front desk service was fine. There’s a 7-Eleven under a 10-minute walk away, though the location itself isn’t great. With a car, restaurants and supermarkets are close by. The room lets a lot of noise through, and breakfast wasn’t as good as at Hotel Genkakegawa. Hotel Genkakegawa also has better parking, is nearer the interchange, and has more washing machines. One thing to watch for: in November, over ten mosquitoes were clinging to the ceiling after I left the window slightly open for ventilation. They must be breeding somewhere, so keep the window shut.

There’s plenty of parking right in front, and the Wi-Fi worked well. The bathtub is roomy, though you have to set the water temperature yourself. The surroundings don’t seem to have anything within walking distance. At breakfast, some items were already unavailable at 7 a.m.; the room felt dark, the layout made it hard to move around, and the staff weren’t great. The toilet tank also takes a while to refill.

The staff made me feel very welcome, and breakfast was both healthy and delicious. The building is a little dated, but it's been looked after well and felt comfortable. I'd happily come back.
