We stayed two nights, and the whole visit was wonderful, from check-in through check-out. The rooms were very well appointed, the indoor and outdoor onsen were great, and with so few rooms it never really felt crowded. The food and staff were great, especially dinner at the counter. I’d book this ryokan again. My one small gripe: the space just inside the room door was too narrow to leave our shoes.

The staff gave us an amazing experience, and the meal may have been the best of my life. My Japanese is limited, but that wasn’t a problem. For reference, I’m American. I left feeling rejuvenated for the rest of my trip. This place really earns its five-star rating.

The attached onsen was fantastic, and the room was clean. Dinner served in the room was so good, especially the beef sukiyaki, which was the best! Staff welcomed us warmly and tried to help however they could. Gokku was helpful with the booking, and they arranged free airport pickup and drop-off. The location is very convenient for Kagoshima airport, including the international airport. There aren’t many attractions nearby if you don’t drive, but since the point of an onsen hotel is to spend time in the baths, that didn’t bother me much. I still give the location five stars for the airport convenience.
