Pension Kyokojima

I spent a night here in summer after someone described it as homey, with a close connection between the owner and guests. That turned out to be true, and I was treated so kindly. The dining room and lounge always felt warm and welcoming, and I could relax over carefully prepared meals. A truly luxurious experience. I’d highly recommend this wonderful guesthouse to anyone staying in Kaida Kogen.

The part I was happiest with was the elegant kaiseki dinner. Even the coffee afterward showed the owners’ care, they warmed the cups with hot water before serving it. The guesthouse is run by a husband and wife, with their daughter helping when I visited. The rooms were clean, and a self-service fridge had drinks and instant noodles, so I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. I brought my child for their first ski experience and was pleased with the quality of the rental skis. The slopes are about a 5-10 minute walk away, and their parking lot is free, so driving was convenient despite the short distance.

The owners were very friendly, and we ate well. I stayed in September, when the nights were cool, and a Staub pot was provided in the mornings. I couldn’t see the stars because it was cloudy, but I was able to relax and enjoy several baths in the room.

The parents were so kind, and even with our small child along, everything was easy and comfortable. Their stories were so interesting that the time just flew by. We had a great time, loved the rooms and food, and will definitely come back ♡
