I booked online a week ahead for one night on a business trip and was after an inexpensive stay. Check-in and checkout were quick and simple, and my room was comfortable and clean. The hotel is a little farther out of the way than I usually prefer, and set back from the area's main roads, so it took some navigating to find. I can't really comment on the neighborhood beyond that.

The public bath on site was a nice way to unwind after a day out, and breakfast was a pleasant start, with a decent mix of Japanese and Western dishes. The room was small but had the essentials, was clean, and felt comfortable for a short visit. The location is convenient for transport and nearby places to eat. Staff were polite and helpful, although English communication was limited at times. They still did their best with requests. Hotel Route Inn Kitakyushu was a practical, affordable choice for me, with convenience and comfort but no luxury.

The breakfast buffet is a good deal, and there's a small public hot spring bath if you want one. The hotel was clean and had a relaxing feel. If you've got time, head up to "Takatoyama" for a nice view over Kitakyushu.

The hotel has an Onsen and a great breakfast bar included, and I liked the bridge view. Nearby there's a mall, a daiso, lots of pachinko parlors, and a couple of 7/11s. The location itself could be better, though. Several restaurants turned away the Americans I was with. There's another route inn about 30 minutes away in a better part of town, with more food choices.
