I should’ve read the reviews more carefully before booking. I was meant to check in at 9 PM, but a train delay was going to make me about an hour late. I called to explain, and they said, “That’s a problem” and “Come quickly,” even though the booking site said check-in was allowed until 11 PM. Their rude reaction shocked me, but the rest was worse. No one answered the doorbell or phone no matter how many times I tried. There was an overpowering air freshener smell, presumably covering a bad odor, and all I wanted was to leave. A recent review I’d read came back to me: mold, bed bugs, dirt, dust. I was convinced. The room smelled bad, there was mold all over the bathroom and on the curtains and around the sink. The pillowcases were yellowed, really stained to the point it was hard to believe they’d ever been white. Jalan and the other booking sites should take this listing down. I don’t even want to give it one star.

It’s cheap and close to the station, with free parking, but the parking only fits three cars in a row. There’s a gravel lot nearby that charges 500 yen for 12 hours or 800 yen for 24 hours, which might be a better choice if you’re sightseeing. The unit bath could work if you don’t mind cigarette smells or hygiene issues 👍️. I haven’t tried the Goemon bath. I think it’s much like other people have described.

Cheap, and that’s about the only good thing. The reception staff were unfriendly, and the place smelled bad, with spider webs and dust all over. The room pillows and bed were yellowed, with hair of unknown origin scattered across them. Dust was everywhere, the bathroom stank, and the towels smelled moldy. Before long my whole body was itchy. Worst of all, there was no hot water in the room bath, and the air conditioner was broken and unusable. If that had happened in winter, I would seriously have wondered if I’d make it. Even if other hotels are full, don’t stay here. A nearby resort like Mankitsu would’ve been 100 times better. I honestly regret staying.

I was on the 6th floor in a room with a mist-type vertical fan. The hotel was crowded, and they said there were no air-conditioned rooms, only rooms with fans. I spoke to the front desk, and they weren’t bad people. But the room hadn’t been cleaned: chopstick wrappers were still on the floor and ashes were in the ashtray. The reviews had me worried, and I woke up in the night to find bed bugs and mites everywhere. I squashed one and blood came out, and I’m sure I got bitten. I killed more than 10 in an hour, to be honest. Now I’m afraid mites could be on my luggage and come home with me, and I can’t sleep. I’d planned to stay two nights, but I won’t stay the second. The worst thing here is the bed bugs and dust mites, even more than the lack of cleanliness. If you hate bugs, this is an easy decision. Everything else was as the reviews said: terrible bathroom and floors, yellowed towels and pillows. As others have written before, there’s been no improvement.

In my room there were lots of bedbugs in the futon. The first thing to do when you enter a room is take off the comforter and shove it in the closet before using it. The bathroom light and exhaust fan worked, but the lights in the room and entrance didn’t. The older woman at the front desk may have trouble hearing and seemed a little senile. When I told her the room lights were out, she brought me a lamp. I asked to switch rooms, but she said, “Is there another person staying? You canceled, so the other person will have to stay in a different room. Since you canceled on the day, you will have to pay the full cancellation fee.” She didn’t understand what I was saying and tried to charge me three times the room rate: the amount I’d already paid for the room, a cancellation fee, and the charge for another room. Staying here is just about having a roof and walls.
