Our hostess, Ms. Kawahara, made both dinner and breakfast feel extra special with her warmth and friendliness. The room was lovely and a good size, and the hotel is just a short distance from the bus terminal, tucked away in the busy heart of Arima. Inside, the atmosphere felt elegant and calm from the moment we arrived. We stayed in late March 2024, after touring around for a week and a half, and it was a fantastic way to end the trip. It is a little pricey, but worth the splurge.

We loved the outdoor baths, and the staff treated us with such kindness. This place blends traditional Japanese style with modern accommodation in a really unique way. My well-travelled partner and I both highly recommend it. Even if you have to travel to get here, don’t miss it. If you love your partner, this is the place to be.

The only thing that kept this from a full mark was the sound of water trickling from upstairs all night, which made it hard to fall asleep. I had no complaints about the upgrade at no extra charge, though: the room was spacious, had scintillating views, and included a massage chair. The in-room eight-course kaiseki had royal-level visual splendor and attention to detail, and the massage chairs feel human. Food, service, and atmosphere are the best in all of Arima. It isn’t suited or marketed to families with small kids, which gives the place a beautifully relaxed feel.

We appreciated that they went out of their way to make a pescatarian Kaiseki meal for my wife. Our room had its own onsen, and the fridge came with complimentary drinks and locally made snacks. It’s right in the heart of Arima and definitely isn’t cheap, but the value felt worth it. We’ll be back.
