I stayed here in October '25, and it was comfortable, pleasant, and affordable. This was my first place in kobe, and at the time I assumed the upkeep was just the usual standard in japan. After spending months here and trying a lot of guesthouses, I can say the genuine warmth I felt here really stood out.

They reportedly came under fire for turning away anyone over 40. The quoted response was, “Honestly, I can’t stand the sight of you staying at a hostel with young people. It makes me feel sorry for you.” Japan is supposed to be non-discriminatory, but this hotel doesn’t seem to follow that. I’d suggest staying somewhere else.

The owner was super nice, and the hostel itself was cute and comfortable. I loved staying here and would definitely come back.

This is the hostel that got criticized for not allowing people over 40. The statement was, “Honestly, I can’t stand the sight of you staying at a hostel with young people. It makes me feel sorry for you.” The same hostel and quote came up again: they don’t allow anyone over 40, and said, “Honestly, I can’t stand the sight of you staying at a hostel with young people. It makes me feel sorry for you.”
