I paid a reasonable rate compared with other business hotels nearby. The room felt old, but it was practical and comfortable enough for my one-night stay. You need to book parking by phone, and detergent for the coin laundry can be bought at reception. One thing to keep in mind: the room key doesn't lock the door automatically.

You can hear quite a bit of noise from outside, so keep that in mind. The building is old, though it's looked after, and the five parking spots cost 500 yen each on a first-come basis. There aren't many amenities, and there was no tissue in my room. A few things take getting used to: pouring hot water into the tub too quickly can make it overflow, and the strong bathroom fan can overpower the air conditioner. If you've stayed in places like this before, you'll probably be fine.

There are plenty of temples around town, and walking through the city is especially enjoyable. It's also a useful stop on the way to Matsumoto, with reasonably priced buses from Shinjuku, around 2,000 yen. I was in Kofu for work and got a room for 4,000 yen, which surprised me given how close it is to the station. Kofu Station is about a 5-7 minute walk, with lots of dinner options nearby. The building is old, but the essential facilities have been updated and were adequate. The receptionist was very polite and welcoming. People interested in the various things connected with Takeda Shingen may find them especially interesting. I’d recommend staying here.

The room worked out to 10,500 yen for three adults, without meals, through Rakuten Travel. It's a maisonette near Kofu Station, which made it convenient for looking around and trying local food. Downstairs there was a sofa, table, fridge, and one bed; upstairs were two more beds and a unit bath with a toilet. Both floors had a TV and air conditioner, and towels and a hair dryer were provided. The building does feel old, but we didn't hear other guests at all and slept peacefully. If you don't need meals, that price for the room felt like a great deal.
