Ogawatei

The rooms were great, and the location worked perfectly for us. We ate incredibly well, and a soak at the refreshing tanuki spa was a nice treat.

There isn't much nearby, though wandering the old pottery streets was peaceful. The inn itself is small and traditional, with kind staff and a simple set of amenities that was enough for me. The mild hot spring water left me feeling warm, with smooth skin afterward. The family open-air bath costs extra, but the atmosphere there was especially nice. Dinner's Omi beef was excellent. It looked quite marbled, maybe a bit too much, but with vegetables in shabu-shabu it was just right, tender and full of flavor. Breakfast had plenty of variety, all carefully prepared, and the Omi rice was delicious too.

The welcome from everyone at this traditional hot spring inn in Shigaraki Town was so warm, it left me feeling comforted all over. I especially enjoyed the famous "Tanuki Tea Kama Bath" and its lovely atmosphere. Every dish was carefully made and delicious, and there was such a good selection of sake that I wanted to sample them all. I'd definitely like to visit again.

We came for lunch as a group, and the young proprietress was so kind, always smiling. Everything tasted great. Since we were all over 60, some of us couldn't finish and left food behind, but we still really enjoyed it. Thank you.
