Cocts Akihabara

This was presented as a hotel, but it should be described as a hostel. Across five floors, there are only three toilets and two showers for all the guests. The floors and walls are so thin you can hear people walking around. Some rooms are advertised as family rooms, yet children were told not to make noise because other guests might be disturbed. Most of the staff seemed unhappy to be working and barely acknowledged us, though one taller, thinner man was friendly and chatted whenever we crossed paths. The worst part was our booking: we reserved a private room with three single beds for our family of four, including two young kids. We were refused entry because there were four of us, not three, even though our children often sleep with us in the same bed at home. We were told we could lose the reservation and the full amount, or pay extra for a bed in the dormitory, while the four of us still couldn’t use the private family room. After we called the owner or manager, they said we could pay extra and stay in the room after all. I really wouldn’t recommend this hostel.

The staff were really friendly, and the room and bathroom were clean. I stayed in a private bunk bed room and enjoyed it. The breakfast donut was surprisingly good, too. I’d recommend it.

It’s quiet at night and conveniently close to train stations. There’s a bathroom just for women, and the toilet and shower rooms are clean. I’d like to stay at Cocts again.

I’m so glad my friend and I found this hotel. Our room was spacious and clean, the staff were friendly and spoke English, and they even shared suggestions for nearby places to visit. There’s a lounge and a cafe, too. I think I got a really good price during my stay. It’s within walking distance of Akihabara station and Asakusabashi Station. I totally recommend it. Thanks!
