Komagane Green Hotel

It was okay.

It's the cheapest hotel in the area, but I didn't find much else to like. The hair dryer makes odd noises and seems close to breaking. The unit bath is moldy, and the first floor's large public bath is really old. Breakfast was the worst part. Maybe we arrived late, but the food looked like leftovers and none of it tasted good. At 900 yen, I'd rather eat breakfast at a convenience store. It feels like a waste of money.

The hotel has a retro look, but it felt pretty worn inside. When I asked at the front desk where the nearest convenience store was, the response was unfriendly. The facility information wasn't helpful either. I tried to take a bath, but the water turned murky brown when I filled the tub, even though it wasn't a hot spring. I gave up and went to the large public bath instead. It was a small tiled tub that didn't feel clean, which was disappointing. Breakfast had few choices and seemed to be prepackaged food that had only been warmed up a bit. When it ran out, they didn't bring more. I'm not sure it was worth the price, and people who care about cleanliness may not be comfortable here.

The hotel's only real advantage is being right in front of the station. The rooms were noticeably dirty, and the bathroom grimy. You get what you pay for, I guess. Breakfast was awful. They advertised "Alps salmon," "local milk," and "homemade tofu" for 800 yen. When I went, there was no salmon being served, only about 100ml of milk, and the tofu wasn't even out. It felt like a scam, or at least as though it would be easy to deceive people. Trying to say something was like pushing against a curtain. Next time I'll stay somewhere else, even if it's farther away or more expensive.
