Hotel Mutsumi

For skiing, the Tanne ski lift is reachable by walking up the road beside the inn, though the slope is steep enough that children or people with low stamina should be prepared for it. I stayed one night in February. The Japanese-style room fit four adults without feeling cramped, and there was an elevator. The spacious bathroom had a sauna and was very nice; I could use it in the morning too. The staff were busy but still accommodating. Dinner had generous portions, but felt like a meal from an old, cheap inn: fatty pork shabu-shabu hot pot, cold fried food, cold fish, and side dishes. If asked whether I’d go again...

The parking lot we were directed to was a bit of a walk from the inn, which was tough in a blizzard. Still, the price was reasonable, the food was good, the bath was nice, and every staff member was very friendly.

Thanks so much for coming back year after year, we really appreciate your patronage. The large shared bath has a small sauna too, which should help soothe you after a tiring ski season. We often have big parties in the evening, and we’re grateful for your thoughtfulness. Thank you as always! For skiing, Ichinose, behind the hotel, has the easiest slopes.

The food and baths were lovely, the place was clean, and the friendly staff made the stay pleasant right through to the end. My one disappointment was hearing noise from downstairs in the middle of the night. I booked at short notice for Golden Week using the Biker Support Plan. I’d only planned a day trip and hadn’t brought much with me. Later I heard they’d prepared yukatas, toothbrushes, and other things for motorcyclists since carrying all your luggage can be difficult. That thoughtfulness really touched me. I was able to stay at a very reasonable price even over Golden Week. Thank you very much.
