Komoro Grand Castle Hotel

The room's fridge made so much noise that I couldn't sleep. I only realized how bad it was around 11 pm, because the air conditioning had been keeping it from working as hard. Once I turned the AC off, the regulator kicked in about every twenty minutes, louder than the vacuum cleaner I use at home. I couldn't find a switch or get to the plug. If I'd noticed sooner, I would have asked reception for another room, but it was almost midnight and I was exhausted after hiking nearly 30 km that day. I needed a cheap, basic room for one night in Komoro, and this was the only place available. The location is excellent, the service was good, and the price was very reasonable. The hotel feels like a typical property from Japan's economic bubble period. It may have done well in the eighties and nineties, then seen fewer customers and less money for upkeep and upgrades, which could explain its generally tired feel.
