The food was the best part of my stay. Dinner and breakfast were delicious, traditional onsen ryokan kaiseki meals. The local vegetable dish included ingredients I’d never seen before, and making my own miso soup at breakfast was fun. Service was very attentive. The rooms are a little dated but clean and well furnished. The onsen was clean too, and I loved the outdoor wooden tub. The location is very nice, close to Lake Towada. Highly recommended.

A calm, warm atmosphere, a convenient spot right in front of the lake, and parking space made this a lovely ryokan stay. The rooms were spacious and clean, the food was delicious, and the people were very kind. The onsens were large, with outdoor-view baths.
We forgot our backpack at a museum two hours away, after we’d already paid for the room. Haruka at the counter helped quickly by contacting the museum, sending back the key for us, and arranging delivery so we could get our passport back without driving all the way there. That was a huge help. The hotel may not look very appealing from the outside, but you don’t spend your time outside the room. It felt warm and welcoming, and the staff were kind. Don’t let the Agoda photo put you off. They seem to spend their money on the food instead of making the building look fancy while serving bad meals. The food was impeccable, very fresh, and local. I’m a picky eater and have had omakase and fine dining elsewhere, but these meals were just as good, if not better for the ingredients. Every dish was spot on and delicious. We appreciated the complimentary snacks each day and the premium green tea in the room too. The room was inexpensive, especially since breakfast and dinner of such high quality were included. The onsen was great and helped with my back pain.
For the price, it was average: the food and cleanliness were nothing special, and the washroom was super small.
It’s very quiet at night, and only a short walk from the lake. The ryokan had a large shared bath with an outdoor tub as well, and the food was fantastic. A great stay.
