Kotohira Grand Hotel Sakuranosho

The baths were a highlight, with superb hot spring water. The indoor pool is large but on the cooler end, while the outdoor baths range from moderate to high temperatures. I could only handle the moderate and cooler water. Dinner was adequate for what I paid, and breakfast was a satisfactory buffet, though not exquisite. The rooms are all really nice and adequately sized for someone tall like me. I didn’t have to worry about hitting my head or bending my back over the sink. The place was clean, and the staff were polite, friendly, and helpful.

The kaiseki dinner was one of the best I’ve had at a ryokan, and the private bath was amazing. I stayed in the Hatsune Premium room on New Year’s Eve and had a lovely time. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff and service were great, and the main bath was well maintained. I especially liked the roses in the outdoor bath. It felt well worth the price, and I’d definitely recommend it.

The room was nice, and the view and atmosphere were great. It’s a quiet area, so don’t expect many restaurants to be open after 6. From the JR station, you’ll have some walking and stairs unless you take a taxi.

The room was cute, clean, and had amazing views of Konpira Shrine from both the room and its bath. The staff were all very friendly, and the meals were good too. It’s a great location, and I’d recommend staying here if you’re visiting Konpira Shrine. Pick a room with a shrine view.
