I was there surfing last weekend, and it’s a perfect place for surfers, right in front of the beach, less than five minutes away. The room was in excellent condition, spacious, with a comfortable bed and a private shower and toilet. There was even an electric blanket on the bed, so I slept well. I’m planning to stay again next week.
I went to chiba to surf, and the hotel was really close to the beach. The facilities were nice and cozy. Best of all, there’s a restaurant right next to the hotel. Wow, amazing!
There’s plenty of parking, and you can check out any time of day by leaving your key at the front desk. I stayed without meals and, after paying, was glad to know I could go out for dinner and breakfast at a restaurant. It has the feel of an old-fashioned business hotel. The room was surprisingly spacious, with the toilet and shower in the same room. It’s cheap and fine if you just need somewhere to sleep, but I wouldn’t recommend it for women, families, or couples. If you’re after an inexpensive regional hotel, it works.
The rooms are dated but very clean, and the price seems quite reasonable compared with other places in the same range. The amenities usually include strongly scented fabric softener. There’s no coin laundry on site. One is within walking distance, but it only has large washing machines. With a car, there are other options about a ten-minute drive away. The Hollywood-style lights at the entrance really caught me off guard. It seems the owner runs the place alone, so the front desk is usually empty, but call the posted cell number and he appears right away. If the reviews have you worried, you could stay at a city business hotel with similar facilities for several times the price. After all, Katagai is a resort area in Kujukuri.
The WiFi was the big letdown. The SSID shown in the image wasn’t visible, and I couldn’t connect to the network listed on the chest of drawers. For me, on a one-night stay without meals and without my PC or any editing to do, it wasn’t a huge deal, but for some people this would be a fatal flaw. The ditch along the main road also smelled terrible, and the odor drifting over was unpleasant. Check-in was meant to start at 2:30 p.m., but no one was at the front desk before 3. The displayed phone number didn’t connect either. Someone who seemed to be staff appeared briefly a little after 3, then disappeared. It gave me the impression the desk might never be staffed. I called the front desk, paid for the room, and got the key. The room itself was simple: a bed, TV, small chest of drawers, fridge, and clothes rack, with a lot of bare space. The bathroom had just a shower, toilet, and sink. I actually like having the roomier setup without a bathtub, and think I could do without one at home too. The water took more than five minutes to get warm, which felt like a waste of time. I liked the area around the bed. The mattress was quite firm and supportive, so my lower back didn’t sink in and start hurting. The comforter was thin, but the air conditioning worked well, so you could adjust the temperature.
