The staff were really friendly and helpful, and I was satisfied with my stay. It’s a traditional Japanese house, so you get a feel for living in a Japanese home. The bedrooms are spacious, airy, spotless, and Japanese style, with no beds. The restroom smelled a bit, though. The name, “Tsukigakireidesune,” is hard to remember in English, which makes the place difficult for foreigners to find and book. The location felt dull and wasn’t very convenient, about a 15-minute walk from the Central Station. Still, I’d definitely book this guesthouse again when I return to Kumamoto.

I spent four nights in a private room here and enjoyed the stay a lot. The room was very clean, and the facilities were clean and worked well too. There are lots of little signs explaining things in English, which was helpful. A lovely detail is the bamboo lights in the garden. They look really nice in front of the dormitory.

I came here for the “Bamboo Light Making Experience” on my way back from Aso, rather than staying at the guest house. The workshop was fun and easier than I expected. Choosing a pattern was the tricky part because there were so many options. I think my colleagues and I did a good job. From what I saw, the guest house looked like a fairly new building in a traditional Japanese style. It was clean and very nice, the staff were super friendly, and the bamboo light decorations were beautiful. I’d definitely stay here on a trip to Kumamoto.

I was lucky to be the only guest on my first night, but a larger group arrived late the second night and were pretty noisy. The rest of the stay was comfortable, with a really nice vibe. The staff were super kind, and both my private room and the shared areas were very clean. I also joined the bamboo lamp workshop, which is a MUST DO.

I came for a furoshiki event, not as a hotel guest, so I can’t comment on the rooms. The place was beautiful, the owner was very nice, and everything looked clean and well planned. There’s parking on site, plus another parking area about a 3-minute walk away.
